Augmedix Live and Telemedicine

Workflow Best Practices
Overview
Augmedix best practices help our healthcare providers navigate telemedicine visits with their remote medication documentation assistant.
These best practices streamline workflows, meet current documentation requirements, and are integrated into both Augmedix Live and Augmedix Notes products.
Every Augmedix assistant can support those clinicians who are exclusively managing patients via telemedicine, as well as clinicians conducting both in-person and remote services for their patients.
Augmedix Telemedicine User Engagement
- Augmedix users represent 45 medical specialties.
- Approximately 90% of Augmedix users are conducting televisits
- Augmedix users utilize multiple platforms to conduct televisits
- Televisits are being conducted from varying locations (clinics, field clinics, clinician's homes, etc.)
Compatible with any telemedicine platform, our best practices ensure streamlined workflows and up-to-date documentation requirements, which are integrated into both our Augmedix Live and Augmedix Notes products.
Using Augmedix During a Patient Visit
Augmedix Live
Every Augmedix assistant is trained to support clinicians conducting both in-person and virtual visits.
Getting Started
Depending on the type of visit, the assistant will navigate to the appropriate platform (either the Augmedix application or telemedicine tool), and will follow documentation guidelines to provide optimal support for your visits.
Telemedicine Visit
1
Share meeting link(s) with your Augmedix account manager. Most telemedicine tools provide a specific room/meeting URL. Sharing these links ensures your assistant can easily join your virtual visits.
2
At the start of your day, log into the Augmedix application to begin communication with your assistant. (Stay logged into the Augmedix application to streamline navigation between tools used for in-person vs. virtual visits.)
3
Tell your assistant the visit type (e.g. telemedicine) prior to the start of the visit. This will help them navigate to the appropriate tool.
4
Admit your assistant into the telemedicine visit meeting room.
a) Your assistant will not have video turned on and will be muted on the stream.
b) Your assistant’s name in the meeting is “Augmedix assistant.”
c) Prior to admitting the patient to the virtual meeting room, confirm audio continuity with your assistant.
5
At the start of the visit, introduce Augmedix to ensure patient consent. Once consent is obtained you can hide your assistant from gallery view to avoid distraction.
6
Assistant and clinician communicate via private messaging within the telemedicine platform during the visit (the patient cannot see this correspondence).
If, for some reason, your telemedicine solution doesn’t allow your assistant to be in the meeting, or doesn’t include features that enable effective communication, follow the workflow for telephone visits.
Telephone Visit
